Description

About the Artist Dot .- (“Dot Dot Dash”) is the rapper moniker of Valida Prentice, a 23-year-old climate change activist from the United States. In addition to writing and performing flows about climate change, Valida is currently studying Environmental Management with an emphasis on international climate policy, in Berlin, Germany, and spends her free-time writing for and managing www.theclimateers.org, a blog about climate change issues. She will be attending the Copenhagen climate change negotiations as a SustainUS youth delegate. About the Song The 350 Rap is intended to get the number 350 stuck in your head and explain why the number is important. “Three five zero, yea, three hundred and fifty; that’s the safe level, but above that it gets iffy.” Beyond the 350 message, the song stresses the significance of the Copenhagen climate talks. The negotiations are of extreme importance and the song is intended to inform and then to remind everyday people of the event. “December in Denmark, mark, mark it on your map; December in Denmark, it’s time to make a cap.” Finally, the song is meant to inspire people. I hope that others out there will be moved to use whatever talent, means and tools they’ve got to help effect change. “We write, we call, we march, we sing, we’re gonna try our hardest, to get our leaders to hear our calls ‘n commit to binding targets.”
